How reed diffusers work

Where to place your reed diffuser

The spot decides how well the scent travels. Two simple rules get you started.

Keep the diffuser out of direct sunlight and away from a radiator or heat source. Heat makes the oil evaporate too quickly, so the scent starts stronger but lasts a shorter time.

Then choose a spot with a little air movement, for example in a hallway or beside a walkway. A soft airflow carries the scent into the room. Avoid placing it right next to an open window, though, or the scent drifts straight outside.

How often should you flip the reeds?

Flip the reeds now and then, for example a few times a week. The saturated end comes back to the top and gives a noticeably stronger scent. Do this over the bottle or with a cloth so you do not get oil on your furniture. Wash your hands afterwards.

The right number of reeds

Start with some of the reeds and build up. In a small space like a toilet or bathroom, a few reeds are often enough. In a roomy living room they can all go in. More reeds mean a stronger, faster spread, but also that the oil runs out a little sooner. Find the balance that suits your room.

When to refill or replace

After around four months you will notice the scent fading. At that point you do not need to buy a whole new set right away.
